Studio photography, Atlanta
Controlled light, calm space, the kind of session that needs more than a window and a wall.
Studio photography is what most clients picture when they imagine a professional shoot: a quiet space, controlled light, no scheduling around the weather, time to actually consider each frame. I work out of two Atlanta studios depending on the shoot — one on the Westside (larger, better for brand campaigns and small teams) and one in Old Fourth Ward (smaller, more intimate, better for single-person editorial portraits).
What you get from shooting in studio that you don't get on location: light you can shape, time you can stretch, no logistical chaos eating into the creative work. A studio session can sit in one corner of a single room for an hour and produce ten different images, because every variable is under your control.
Studio sessions are billed at the same rate as on-location sessions, with the studio rental folded in (you don't book a studio separately and pay it on top). For half-day brand work that's about $1,950 inclusive; for individual portraits that's the standard sitting rate plus a small studio surcharge.
When studio is the right call: portraits with consistent lighting, product photography, brand campaigns that need a controlled backdrop, headshots for a small team, anything where the location itself isn't part of the story.
When location is better: a founder photographed in their actual workspace, a brand shoot that needs the texture of a real place, a portrait where the environment is half the point. We'll figure out which one fits during the discovery call — there's no wrong answer, just the right answer for the work.
